How to do? winter Structural sealant thickens, uneven appearance.

do you know? In winter, structural sealant will also be like a child, making a small temper, so what troubles will it cause?

1.Structural sealant thickening

Structural sealants will gradually thicken and become less fluid as the temperature decreases. For the two-component structural sealant, the thickening of the structural sealant will increase the pressure of the glue machine and reduce the extrusion of the structural sealant. For one-component structural sealants, the structural sealant thickens, and the pressure of the glue gun to extrude the structural sealant increases, and manual operations may feel time-consuming and laborious.

Solution: If there is no effect on the construction efficiency, low temperature thickening is a normal phenomenon, and no improvement measures are required. If it affects the construction efficiency, you can consider increasing the use temperature of the structural sealant or adopt some auxiliary heating measures, such as storing the structural sealant in a heating or air-conditioned room in advance. Install heating in the gluing workshop to increase the temperature of the gluing environment. In addition, you can choose suitable glue tools, such as manual glue guns with high thrust, pneumatic glue guns, electric glue guns, etc.

2.Weathering sealant bulges – uneven appearance

In winter, the temperature difference between day and night is often large. When applied to the aluminum panel curtain wall, the weather-resistant sealant is prone to bulging. The main reason is that the curing speed of the weather-resistant sealant becomes slower in a low temperature environment, and the time required for the surface to cure to a sufficient depth will be longer. On the surface of the weather-resistant sealant When the depth of the glue has not been cured enough, if the width of the glue seam varies greatly (this is usually caused by the thermal expansion and contraction of the panel), the surface of the glue seam will be affected and unevenness will appear. After the adhesive seam with uneven surface is finally cured, its interior is solid, not hollow, which will not affect the long-term sealing performance of the weather-resistant sealant, but only affect the flatness of the appearance of the adhesive seam.

After the winter, the large area cools down, the temperature is low, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is large. Due to the large coefficient of linear expansion of the material, the aluminum panel curtain wall deforms significantly with temperature. Under the above conditions of structural sealant construction, there is a certain possibility that the glue joints of the aluminum panel curtain wall will bulge.

Solution:

1.Choose the glue with a relatively fast curing speed, which can moderately reduce the bulging problem of the weather-resistant sealant.

2.If the relative deformation of the glue joint is too large due to low humidity or temperature difference, glue joint size, etc., it is recommended to choose one or more of the following methods for construction.

a).Take appropriate shading measures, such as shielding the scaffolding with dust-proof nets, so that the panels are not directly exposed to sunlight, reduce the temperature of the panels, and reduce the deformation of joints caused by temperature differences.

b).Try to arrange gluing around noon, and avoid gluing in the morning and evening.

c).Use the method of secondary glue application (that is, if there is a concave glue seam in the first glue application, it can be cured for 2 to 3 days, and after it has elasticity, a layer of glue is added on the surface).
