Precautions for silicone sealants.

Silicone sealants commonly used in home improvement are divided into two types according to their properties: neutral silicone sealants and acid silicone sealants. Because many people do not understand the performance of silicone sealants, it is easy to use neutral silicone sealants and acidic silicone sealants in reverse.

Neutral silicone sealants have relatively weak adhesion, and are generally used on the back of bathroom mirrors where strong adhesion is not required. The acid silicone sealant is generally used at the dumb mouth on the back of the wood line, and the adhesive force is very strong.

1. The most common problem of silicone sealant is blackening and mildew. Even the use of waterproof silicone sealant and anti-mold silicone sealant cannot completely avoid the occurrence of such problems. Therefore, it is not suitable for construction in places where there is water or flooding for a long time.

2. Those who know something about silicone sealant should know that silicone sealant is an organic substance, which is easily soluble in organic solvent substances such as grease, xylene, acetone, etc. Therefore, silicone sealant cannot be used with such substances. construction on the substrate.

3. Ordinary silicone sealants must be cured with the participation of moisture in the air, except for special and special purpose glue (such as anaerobic adhesives), so if the place you want to construct is a confined space and extremely dry , then ordinary silicone sealant will not be able to do the job.

4. The surface of the silicone sealant to be bonded to the substrate must be clean, and there should be no other attachments (such as dust, etc.), otherwise the silicone sealant will not be firmly bonded or fall off after curing.

5. The acid silicone sealant will release irritating gas during the curing process, which has the effect of irritating the eyes and respiratory tract. Therefore, it is necessary to open the doors and windows after construction, wait until it is completely cured, and wait for the gas to dissipate before moving in.
