What is sealant? have what?

Sealant is a sealing material that deforms into the shape of the sealing surface, is not easy to flow, and has a certain adhesiveness. It is an adhesive used to fill the gaps between objects to play a sealing role. It has the functions of anti-leakage, waterproof, anti-vibration, sound insulation and heat insulation.

It is usually based on dry or non-drying viscous materials such as asphalt, natural resin or synthetic resin, natural rubber or synthetic rubber. It is made with inert fillers such as talc, clay, carbon black, titanium dioxide and asbestos, and then adding plasticizers, solvents, curing agents, accelerators, etc.

Classification of sealants

Sealant can be divided into elastic sealant, liquid sealant gasket and three categories of sealing putty.

According to chemical composition classification:it can be divided into rubber type, resin type, oil-based type and natural polymer sealant. This classification method can find out the characteristics of polymer materials, infer their temperature resistance, sealing and adaptability to various media.

Rubber type: This type of sealant is based on rubber. Commonly used rubbers are polysulfide rubber, silicone rubber, polyurethane rubber, neoprene rubber and butyl rubber.

Resin type: This type of sealant is based on resin. Commonly used resins are epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, phenolic resin, polyacrylic resin, polyvinyl chloride resin, etc.

Oil-based: This type of sealant is oil-based. Commonly used oils are various vegetable oils such as linseed oil, castor oil and tung oil, and animal oils such as fish oil.

Classification according to the application: it can be divided into high temperature type, cold resistance type, pressure type and so on.

Classification according to film-forming properties: It can be divided into dry adhesion type, dry peelable type, non-dry sticky type and semi-dry viscoelastic type.

Classification by use: It can be divided into construction sealant, vehicle sealant, insulation sealant, packaging sealant, mining sealant and other types.

According to the performance after construction: it can be divided into two types: curing sealant and semi-curing sealant. Among them, curing sealant can be divided into rigid and flexible. Rigid sealant is solid after vulcanization or solidification, and rarely has elasticity , cannot be bent, and usually the seams cannot be moved; flexible sealants are elastic and soft after vulcanization. The non-curing sealant is a soft solidifying sealant that still maintains a non-drying tackifier after construction and continuously migrates to the surface state.
